Wedding Inspiration – Trends for 2013!

I’ve heard Penelope say countless times in our 3 years of marriage…”I am so jealous of all the wedding ideas out there now, I wish we could get re-married, our wedding would be even more amazing!”  (I think her lack of time to prepare for our wedding had a bit to do with it too, considering my finishing school and our moving into a new home the weekend before the wedding).

It is hard to believe how many fun and out of the ordinary options are used in today’s weddings.  I found some amazing ideas online that will hopefully help you to get creative and love your wedding day for years to come!

As you see above, a winter wedding can be as beautiful as every other season of the year.  If your favorite time of year includes 2 feet of fluffy snow, hot chocolate, eggnog, and ‘Ol Saint Nick, have your wedding in the winter months and add these cozy ideas to your big day.  My favorite thing about winter weddings is the look of black, white, and pops of red in the colors.  If you have snow on the ground with that red, it doesn’t get much more beautiful than that!

A big trend that I love now is the big barn wedding.  If you have not seen this, it is a must to consider for your wedding day.  Dim lighting, big swing open doors, and the beautiful look of the old wood makes for a classic and rustic look.  If you have a barn in your area, you should give it a visit and I’m sure you will agree with me.

Brooks and MJ will tell you, it is a great addition having a classic car to drive on your wedding day.  Obviously not every family has a classic car to drive, but at least you could try to sweet talk your rich Uncle Bob into bringing the car to the church for some classy pictures!

Need a centerpiece?  How ’bout some old vintage tins for your flower vases?  I had never seen this, but I love the idea.  Start your collection early so you have plenty to choose from for the final arrangement.

The cake and dessert table is highly sought after at the wedding.  Mix it up a little and have pies as an additional treat.  Get that expensive fancy cake you’ve wanted in the small size, and have a dozen pies as a second option.

I love wedding favors because it is the one tangible item that guests take home from the wedding (except of course the bathroom basket they may steal).  The gumball machine is such a unique idea.  It could become expensive, so perhaps a more affordable option is to purchase wholesale candy in the color of your wedding, fill mason jars, and decorate the mason jar to match.

I hope my brainstorming ideas have been helpful, any great ideas coming to mind?  Please share with us below!
